The Manor House, Petty France

Built in 1812 for the British Prime Minister Jenkinson, the Manor House has played host to many famous names throughout its history. Lord Wellington would certainly have been entertained here during the Waterloo campaign, and in subsequent years, the house has been in the ownership of the Wordsworth family, Lord and Lady Apsley and the Duke of Beaufort.

In the last 40 years as a 5 star hotel, it has welcomed the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Edward Fox, Christopher Reeve and Hugh Grant.

The East wing has been totally refurbished and now forms a self-contained, luxury house which sleeps up to 14 (minimum booking 10) in four spacious bedrooms with a sofa-bed in the sitting room.  There are two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet.  The kitchen is fully equipped and the sitting room spacious and elegant with dual aspect, Georgian windows.  There is parking for up to 6 cars.

Use of the indoor spa comprising heated swimming pool and hot tub for eight people is also included in your stay.  There is a private lawn and South-facing breakfast terrace and you may use the formal gardens at the rear of the Manor.

The World heritage city of Bath is 16 miles away and is easily reachable by car.  The complete shopping experience is to be found at Bristol’s newly opened Cabot Circus which is about the same distance.  If you prefer a country break, explore the beautiful Cotswold villages which are on our doorstep.

Self-catering, two night breaks are offered throughout the year, but if you choose to have caterers come to the house, we can help.  There is a restaurant and bar opposite the Manor and many Cotswold villages with pubs nearby.
